Q. What variety of strawberries do you grow and sell at The Original Manassero Farms?

A. We grow both Camarosa and Monterrey strawberries. Both varieties are known for their very consistent firm texture. They have a uniform deep red color inside and out. Most of all we want to bring these superior varities to our customers because of their amazing taste and sweetness.

Q. Why are some of the berries I buy at other farm stands and grocery stores white on the inside?

A. Unlike some other stands and grocery stores, and big box stores we do not grow or sell the commercial Ventanna variety. The Ventanna produces lots of not so tasty berries that are white in color on the inside.

Q How do I store my strawberries once I take them home?

A. It is best not to wash berries until right before you are going to prepare them for cooking or eating. Just put them in an air-tight baggie or container unwashed in the refrigerator. Wash just what you are going to eat right away.

Q. I bought some berries at a big box store and they were mostly red but white on top next to the stem. I thought if I left them on the counter they would ripen up. They didn't, what happened?

A. Unlike a lot of different fruits, once strawberries are picked they do not continue to ripen, they begin to ruin. Washing the berries will only hasten the ruining process. That is why if you buy a green grocery store berry it will never get any redder in color or get any sweeter tasting.

Q. Why don't all stands with Manassero Farms in their name honor my preferred customer card?

A. The names may be similar but the stands are independently owned and operated. The Original Manassero Farms are the only locations that give out and honor the cards. Please check our website for locations that will honor your card.

Q. Do you ever donate product to charities? If so, how can I request a donation?

A. Yes, we donate strawberries (when they are in season) to various charities all the time. We are proud and happy to give back to our community as much as we can. Just send me a request using the from below. I hope we can help!
