Ask Anne

Q There are lots of Manassero Farms around Orange County but they all look different and have different logos with the same name. Are they the same thing?
A No, there are 5 Manassero brothers, 4 of whom have strawberry stands. Steve Manassero Sr. and his brother-in law, Emil Boyserank, started their first strawberry farm, Boyserank-Manassero in East Anaheim way back in the 1960's but have long since retired. Dan Manassero, although not the oldest, was the first to follow in his father's footsteps and opened the first Manassero Farms in 1976. Soon three other brothers, Richard and John and Steve opened their own stands as well. However, the brothers do not work together nor co-own any stands together. Since the other brothers named their stands "R" Manassero Farms, and Manassero Farms as well we have decided to re-name our stands "The Original Manassero Farms" in order to help clear up any confusion as to why the stands all look different and sell different products.
Q What variety of strawberry do you grow and sell at The Original Manassero Farms?
A We grow Camarosa strawberries because of their very consistent firm texture, uniform deep red color inside and out and most of all because of their superior taste and sweetness.
Q How do I store my strawberries once I take them home?
A It is best not to wash berries until right before you are going to prepare them for cooking or eating them. Just put them in an air-tight baggie or container unwashed in the refrigerator. Wash just what you are going to eat right away. Once strawberries are picked they do not continue to ripen, they begin to ruin and water hastens this process. That is why if you buy a green grocery store berry it will never get any redder in color or get any sweeter tasting.
Q When will you get your famous blackberries?
A Right now! Hurry in right away, blackberries have a short growing season and they are big and delicious and in our stands now.
Q Why don't the other Manassero Farms honor my preferred customer card?
A The stands are independently owned and operated. The Original Manassero Farms are the only locations that give out and honor the cards. Please check our website for locations that will honor the card.
