Steve Manassero’s paternal grandparents, Stephano and Inez with children. They lived their whole lives in Bene Vigene, Italy.
Steve Manassero’s maternal grandparents, Matteo and Camilla Olocco with children, Brigeda, Laura and Frank. They immigrated to America in 1910 to an area of Los Angeles known as “dog town.”
In 1922 Jim and Brigeda married and moved to Yorba Linda. That same year Jim began farming in East Yorba Linda, “The Barley Fields.”
Jim, pictured with friend, Clarance, farmed for over 50 years from 1922-1970! No wonder he was known to have made “bathtub” wine back in the day!
From 1948-1985 Emille and Steve farmed under the name Boisseranc/Manassero. They grew “just about everything” cauliflower, carrots, cabbage, sweet corn, black eyed peas & sweet potatoes. In 1959 they began to grow strawberries exclusively.
